State police at the Frackville barracks reported that Justin W. Hoppes, 35, of Mahanoy City, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:08 p.m. Monday on Delano Road in Mahanoy Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency & Rescue Squad to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

They said he was driving a 2022 Dodge Ram 2500 west when he swerved to avoid striking a deer that had entered the roadway. He lost control of the truck, which hit an embankment and overturned. The truck was towed from the scene.

Hoppes was cited after the crash, police said.
