Slatington buying new Christmas lights
Slatington Borough Council last week discussed the purchase of new Christmas lights for the poles on Main Street, with a quote of $30,178.75.
“We picked ones that have LED lights, which last for 25 years,” Mayor Jeralyn Schoch said. “We have organizations and individuals donating to help with the cost.”
The vote was approved with one no vote from Councilman Ronald Kratz.
“I vote no because we have to have enough money going for the police,” he said.
The lights are 30 years old. Council is ordering two kinds of snowflakes with LED lights.
So far the donors are the Ladies Auxiliary of Slatington Legion and the Slatington Lions Club.
Both have donated $1,000 toward the lights.
