Monroe county crashes

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following crashes:

• Charles P. Palmaccio, 45, of Freeland, was injured in a crash at 12:59 p.m. May 29 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.

He was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, and later flown by helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.

Police said he was driving a 1996 Freightliner dump truck that was hauling garbage when its front right tire burst, resulting in Palmaccio losing control of the vehicle. It traveled off the right side of the road and struck a concrete wall beneath a bridge, coming to rest on its left side.

Police said the vehicle lost its load, leaving bags of garbage blocking both lanes of Route 33.

Palmaccio was ejected through the windshield and was located by emergency responders along the road, according to police.

• Deniz Kantos, 20, of Stroudsburg, was cited after a crash at 10:54 a.m. May 29 on Beaver Valley Road, Hamilton Township. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2015 Jeep Patriot northbound when he swerved to avoid striking two deer that had entered the roadway.

The Jeep traveled off the road and hit a tree stump and a tree.

The Jeep was towed from the scene.
