Local Roundup: Results from June 5

Northern Valley teams posted wins in two leagues on Thursday.

The Lehigh Valley Legion Chargers defeated Whitehall-Coplay, while the NV Junior Connie Mack squad blanked Jim Thorpe.

Northern Valley-

Whitehall-Coplay

Northern Valley opened its 2025 Lehigh Valley Legion regular season in style, as Carter Christman’s two-run single helped lift the Chargers to a 4-3 victory over Whitehall-Coplay.

Trailing 3-0 entering the top of the seventh inning, Northern Valley loaded the bases with singles from both Max George and Brayden Buskirk, and a hit-by-pitch by Jacob Carson.

Coy Daubert’s single brought in George with the Chargers’ first run. Cole Dynda followed with a fielder’s choice that plated Carson to make it 3-2.

Christman then delivered his hit that scored both Buskirk and Daubert to put the Chargers ahead.

Connor Simms then tossed a scoreless bottom of the seventh to preserve the victory.

Simms went the distance for the win, finishing with six strikeouts and a walk.

Franklin Twp.-Lower Mac

Franklin Township’s Logan Bellis finished with seven RBIs, but it wasn’t enough as Lower Macungie scored plenty early and then hung on for a 12-11 victory.

Bellis hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning, blasted a three-run homer in the third, delivered a two-run single in the fourth, and brought home another run with a second sac fly in the sixth.

FT, which trailed 9-2 after two frames and nearly rallied all the way back, also received three hits and three runs from Brayden Ulshafer.

Braylon Hunsicker chipped in with a pair of hits, three runs and two RBIs.

Jim Thorpe-Northern Valley

Richard Reinhart tossed a two-hit shutout as Northern Valley posted a 4-0 victory over visiting Jim Thorpe.

Reinhart gave up one walk and struck out four.

Mason Cudzil led the Chargers with a single, two walks and two RBIs.

Zachary Fougere and Bryce McElmoyle accounted for Jim Thorpe’s lone two hits.

Franklin Township-

Lehigh-Bethlehem

Franklin Township handed Lehigh-Bethlehem its first loss of the season, rolling to a 10-3 road victory.

FT leadoff hitter Aidan McCarroll finished 3-for-4, scored three runs and had an RBI.

Owen Moyer added a pair of hits and an RBI, while Brock Atwood had a hit and two RBIs. Atwood also stole two bases — including a swipe of home in the third inning.

The winners also received a hit and two RBIs from Brian Mriss, and a hit, two walks and two runs from Jake Albert.

Alex Kish earned the win, tossing 4 1/3 innings and allowing three hits and one earned run.

Hope’s Collision-

Hegins Black

Riley Kaslavage pitched a five-hit shutout and struck out 12 on Wednesday to lead Hegins Black to a 3-0 victory over Hope’s Collision of Tamaqua.

Kolton Clemmer had two hits and a run for the winners, while Lukas Lucht tripled and knocked in a run.

Tamaqua’s hits came from Gavin Shannon, Chayse Smith, Paxton Carter, Ryder Holmberg and Jeffrey Oakes.

Ian Csensits knocked in six runs, four coming on a grand slam, to help lift the Orioles to a 16-4 victory over Berlinsville.

The winners also received three hits and two runs from Ben Piripavel.

For the Braves, Zach Day had two hits and two RBIs, while Palmerton graduate Cole Serfass reached base three times with a hit and two walks.
