Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• A driver and five passengers escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 3:25 p.m. May 6 at mile marker 96.3 in Kidder Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Josue Rodriguezllavina, 43, of Buffalo, New York, was operating a 2006 Toyota Sienna northbound during a heavy rainstorm. Police said the minivan hydroplaned and struck the concrete barrier on the right side of the road. It was towed from the scene.

• Police said the driver of a 2020 Ford Explorer that struck a Peterbilt tractor-trailer at 8 a.m. May 7 at mile marker 72.3 in East Penn Township fled the scene.

They said the vehicle was southbound in an area where the left lane merges into the right lane because the left lane is closed for construction. The driver of the Explorer struck the rig and continued without stopping, police said.

The rig had minor damage. Its driver, James L. Cline Jr., 51, of Bloomsburg, was uninjured.
