A sign that once belonged to Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 found its way home Thursday.
During the dedication of the post’s new Veterans Memorial Garden on the east end of the borough, state Sen. David Argall presented members with a plaque that somehow left the VFW years ago.
“I don’t know how this history ended up in my hands,” Argall said as the Yuengling sign was unveiled. “It really belongs to the VFW.”
He said that based on what he could find out, the sign — a framed mirror with both Yuengling and the Nesquehoning VFW logo on it — was a gift from Yuengling years ago.
“But how it left the VFW, I don’t know,” Argall said. “But I’m happy to get it back to you.”
Argall spoke about the importance of veterans organizations like the VFW for men and women who served our country as VFW Commander Craig Strohl accepted the sign back for the VFW.
