May 24, 1971 — Rick Kester pitches a two-hit shutout to help lead Palmerton to a 3-0 Lehigh Valley League victory over rival Slatington. Kester, who walks six and strikes out nine, is given a first-inning lead when Glenn Levendusky reaches on an error, moves up on a Darryl Roberts single and scores on another Bulldog miscue. The Blue Bombers add a pair of insurance runs in the third on a Levendusky RBI triple and an error. Dave Buhay pitches well in a losing effort, allowing just four hits and being victimized by his team’s defense. Buhay walks one and fans eight.
