Voters decide Coaldale, Schuylkill, Rush township races

Voters in the Schuylkill County municipalities of the Times News coverage area decided contests in Coaldale Borough, and Rush and Schuylkill townships during Tuesday’s primary election.

Coaldale

Winning Republican nominations for three four-year terms on the borough on the borough council were Tristan Blasko, Rose Hoben and Matthew Jungbaer. They collected 153, 123 and 121 votes, respectively.

Failing to win a nomination were Thomas Polischak, 96, Leslie A. Napolitano, 62, and Robyn Pezza, 50.

In a race for a two-year term on council, the nomination went to Michael J. Radocha with 176 votes, while Polischak tallied 58 votes.

Eric Ramirez, a Republican, was unopposed for the GOP nomination for mayor and received 137 complimentary votes.

Other unopposed candidates and their vote totals were Leslie A. Frets, Democrat, judge of elections, East District, 43; and Margaret Frets, Democrat, inspector of elections, East District, 34.

Rush Township

James M. Stewart won the Republican nomination for a six-year term on the board of supervisors.

He received 423 votes to easily outdistance two other candidates, Shawn Gilbert, who had 216 votes, and Jeaninne Motroni, 16.

Unopposed candidates and their vote totals were:

Michelle Kabilko, Republican, tax collector, 609; Catherine A. Klingaman, Republican, judge of elections, West District, 265; and Valerie A. Klingaman, Republican, inspector of elections, West District, 263.

Schuylkill Township

By a slim two-vote margin, Charles Hosler won the Republican nomination for a six-year term on the board of supervisors.

He defeated Charles Fayash by a vote of 106 to 104.

Other unopposed candidates and their vote totals were:

Frank Fabrizio, Republican, tax collector, 187; Christine Verdier, Republican, auditor, six-year term, 178; Richard “Rich” Magnini, Republican, auditor, four-year term, 169; and Thomas J. Rossochacy Sr., Republican, auditor, two-year term, 180.

Delano Township

There were three unopposed candidates on the township ballot.

Complimentary votes went to Justin Mroczka, Democrat, supervisor, six-year term, 20; Justin Hall, supervisor, four-year term, 27; and Holly A. Keating, Republican, tax collector, 29.

Ryan Township

In a GOP race for the inspector of elections position in the township, Michelle A. Mistishen was a winner over Ann Marie Mistishen. The winner had 121 votes, while Ann Marie Mistishen tallied 52.

Two other candidates on Tuesday’s ballot in Ryan were unopposed. The candidates and the vote totals they received were:

Lori A. Feidish-Ludinsky, Republican, supervisor, 169; and Mary T. Peca, Democrat, tax collector, 91.

Walker Township

Republicans Carol Lynn Leiby and Donna J. Gerber both sought the GOP inspector of election position in the township. Gerber won it by a margin of 101 to 80.

Other unopposed candidates and their vote totals were:

Diane Yvonne Malay, Republican, tax collector, 189; and Linda Leiby, Republican, judge of elections, 179.

West Penn Township

Republicans Robert D. Miller and Barbara A. Oswald both sought the inspector of elections post in the First District. Miller was a 135 to 82 winner.

Other unopposed candidates and their vote totals were:

Thomas Ackerman, Republican, supervisor, 477; Helene Zeigler, Republican, tax collector, 527; Tracy L. Fenton, Democrat, auditor, 119; Shelly M. Taylor, Republican, judge of elections, First district, 211; Norene G. Rosso, Republican, judge of elections, Second District, 115; Lori M. Hoppes, Democrat, inspector of elections, Second District, 35; Charlene Miller, Republican, inspector of elections, Second District, 122; and Robert Gilfert, Republican, inspector of elections, Third District, 153.
