Industrial development board adds member
The Carbon-Schuylkill Industrial Development Corp. welcomed a new member to its board of directors in April.
Michelle Midas, owner of The Midas Touch Salon in Summit Hill, joined the board for its quarterly meeting held at the Mansion House in Summit Hill in April and shared her vision.
“We are passionate about developing and delivering top quality work that’s both affordable and scheduled in a timely manner,” she said. “Our commitment to continued education and innovation keeps us on the cutting edge of style and care.”
Midas also shared plans for a new business, an ice cream and hot dog shop, in her old salon space next year.
“By planting our roots in Summit Hill, we hope to inspire others to invest in our community and help Carbon County grow,” she said.
Midas looks forward to working with other board members as the CSIDC continues to shape the area and industry base and contribute to tourism and community advancements.
“It’s exciting and refreshing to be able to bring a young and successful businesswoman onto the board, which will be an assent to Summit Hill and CSIDC,” said President Chris Ondrus. “We look forward to her positive contributions as our organization progresses and grows.”
CSIDC Executive Director Rick Forgay noted that board development and diversity is at the forefront of the organization’s mission.
“Our current president, Chris Ondrus, is doing a great job positioning CSIDC to take a proactive leadership approach to identify potential community development opportunities, properties and businesses that can benefit from our support in the earliest stages,” he said.
Other business included reports from chairs representing Lansford, Coaldale, Summit Hill and Nesquehoning, and updates on the Melrose Manor at the Sanctuary, the former St. Michael the Archangel complex in Lansford, Lansford Alive cleanup and concert series, Edgemont Lodge and Narrow Valley Sports Complex.
