State police release details of triple fatal crash

State police have released details in the crash Sunday that resulted in three deaths.

Police from the Fogelsville barracks were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to the area of Route 309 and Gun Club Road for the report of a three-vehicle crash.

According to police:

Upon investigation, it was determined a 2013 Hyundai Accent, operated by a 54-year-old woman from Allentown, was driving northbound on Route 309 and crossed into the southbound lanes of travel and hit a 2021 Jeep Compass operated by a 30-year-old woman from Fountain Hill.

The Hyundai had three occupants in the vehicle, while the Jeep Compass had two occupants.

The driver of the Hyundai was treated at the scene by Cetronia Ambulance and transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, for her injuries.

Both passengers, Vannity I. Colon, 21, of Allentown, and Israel Medina, 19, of New York, New York, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Jeep was also transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, by Cetronia Ambulance.

Jeffrey Pichel, 61, of Fountain Hill, who was a passenger in the Jeep, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, on Monday.

During the crash investigation, traffic was detoured on Route 309 at Gun Club Road and Mountain Road/Mosserville Road.

Assisting with the investigation are the Troop M Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, Troop M Forensic Services Unit, Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, Lehigh County Special Operations Unit and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
