Local Roundup: Results from April 8

Pleasant Valley collected four wins in action from Tuesday.

The girls lacrosse, girls and boys track and field, and boys tennis teams all were victorious.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Pleasant Valley-S. Lehigh

Pleasant Valley snapped Southern Lehigh’s four-game winning streak, and the Bears remained unbeaten with a 14-4 non-league victory.

Devon Bush and Rylee Rath both finished with five goals and an assist for PV, which outscored the Spartans by a 9-1 margin in the second half to break open a tight contest.

Morgan Ryals, Evelyn VanDerheyden, Olivia Iandoli and Peyton Knecht all had one goal for the victors.

Northwestern-Saucon Vy.

Maddie Laslo had five goals and two assists to lead Saucon Valley to a 13-6 victory over Northwestern.

The Panthers also received four goals and a helper from Madi Kares.

Olivia Costa sparked the Tigers’ attack, as she finished with a hat trick.

Sydney Wright added a pair of goals for NW, while Cara Thomas chipped in with a goal and an assist.

TRACK

Pleasant Valley-ES North

The Pleasant Valley girls received firsts from seven different individuals to gain a 65-57 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over East Stroudsburg North.

The Bears gained a pair of individual wins from Danielle Boland in the 400 and 800, while other PV firsts came from Sarah Montgomery (100), Jessica Tartamella (200), Keeley Lawrence (1600), Annalisa Lanigan (300 hurdles), Sofia Aspioti (discus) and Ava Oviedo (triple jump).

Also aiding the victory were sweeps in the 800 and discus.

In the boys meet, Pleasant Valley’s James Morton registered firsts in both the 400 and 1600 as the Bears ended tied with the Timberwolves, 66-66. PV won the match based on most second-place finishes as the teams both had eight first-place wins.

Other firsts for PV came from Jareal Moore (100), Royce Thompson (200), Demetrius Outten (300 hurdles), Collin O’Neill (shot put) and Nicholas Bruckman (discus).

Tamaqua-Minersville

Tamaqua and Minersville split their Schuylkill League meet on Monday, which also included Lincoln Leadership.

The Blue Raider girls earned an 80 3/4-68 1/4 victory, while the boys dropped a 98-51 decision.

Samantha Plasha (high jump, pole vault) and Kimmy Rudy (400, 1600) both won a pair of individual events to lead Tamaqua in the girls competition.

The Raider boys only captured two individual events — Frank Hill in the pole vault and William Behun in the discus.
