Schuylkill County Register of Wills Theresa Santai Gaffney released the activities report for the register of wills and clerk of the orphans’ court for 2024.

During the year, 692 estates were processed; 713 marriage licenses were issued, and 34 adoptions were completed. A total of $16,462,776 in inheritance tax was remitted to the commonwealth, and $89,761 in inheritance tax commission was remitted to the register of wills. A total of $327,230 in county fees were collected.

During the month of December, 65 estates were processed, 46 marriage licenses were issued and three adoptions were completed. A total of $2.74 million in inheritance tax was remitted to the commonwealth and the county collected $16,787 in fees.
