Coaldale residents have until July 29 to pay their sewer transmission fees.
If they don’t, their water will be shut off.
During Tuesday’s borough council meeting, Secretary Beth Martinico said about 373 properties are currently behind on their bills.
The last day the borough will accept personal checks is July 22. They can pay with money orders until July 29, she said.
“July 30 you will be shut off,” she said.
If they pay on July 30, she said, customers won’t have their water immediately restored that day.
Those who have their water cut will be charged a $50 fee for disconnection and reconnection. The amount will be added to their bill and must be paid in full before water will be restored.
In an unrelated matter, Martinico noted that landlords and tenants will be sent letters asking them to provide the borough with rental licenses, renewal fees and other information.
If they don’t submit the fees and proof of insurance, the borough will begin the process of evicting tenants.
She said she will be mailing 312 letters to the landlords and tenants who haven’t responded to a previous request for the information and fees.
Also during the meeting, council voted unanimously to hire Mike Sniscak as a full-time police officer. Sniscak was hired as a part-time officer in September.
