STC hosts signing day

Schuylkill Technology Center recently hosted the third Annual SkillsUSA Signing Day at the north campus in Frackville.

The event was designed to recognize the commitment of the Class of 2024 seniors to enter into an employment agreement in their field of study, enroll in postsecondary technical training or a branch of the military.

Several guests were in attendance to acknowledge the impact that career and technical education graduates have on the workforce needs of the community.

Speakers included Sen. David Argall (R-29); Rep. Jamie Barton (R-124); Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-123); Rep. Dane Watro (R-116); Schuylkill County Commissioners Gary Hess, Boots Hetherington and Larry Padora; Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce President Bob Carl; NEPA Manufacturers & Employers Association President Darlene Robbins; STC South Campus SkillsUSA President Joel Williams and STC North Campus SkillsUSA President Van Caliendo.

SkillsUSA is an organization consisting of students, teachers, and industry partners who work together to help schools improve the quality of the nation’s skilled workforce through the development of personal, workplace, and technical skills.
