West Penn Township supervisors on a 2-0 vote Monday agreed to spend $4,800 on a sound system for the municipal building’s meeting room.
Before the vote, Supervisor Glenn Hummell said the sound system would come complete with eight speakers, an amplifier, and four microphones.
“It’s a professional grade system,” Hummell said.
Board Chairman Tony Prudenti said he was on board with the sound system.
“Personally, I think it’s a great idea,” Prudenti said.
Hummell noted that the township does have money in its building fund.
“This is just going to help in the long run for people who cannot hear (what’s being discussed),” he said.
Supervisor Jim Akins was absent.
