A Tamaqua woman who was struck by a vehicle just before 6 a.m. March 14 will be cited for a crosswalk violation, borough police said.
Police said the woman, Alexis Deel, was taken to St. Luke’s Miners in Coaldale for evaluation following the incident.
According to police, officers were sent to the Five Points intersection for a report of a pedestrian struck by a pickup truck. Police also reviewed footage from the borough’s surveillance system. Police said the video shows Deel, who was dressed in dark clothing, enter the West Broad Street intersection without waiting for the crosswalk signal to turn green.
At the same time, a pickup truck driven by Jason Cull, Hazleton, turned left from Center Street and struck Deel. Police said Deel “flew” approximately 15 feet.
Police said Cull’s vehicle, which is owned by the state Department of General Services, had light damages. He was not injured.
Police cited Deel after viewing the footage.
