Blue Mountain Resort will have two spring skiing and riding events this weekend.
The “Jake Jam” Rail Jam, in honor of the late snowboard pioneer Jake Burton will be Saturday, followed by the annual Pond Skim competition on Sunday.
The “Jake Jam” Rail Jam is a competition where skiers and snowboarders battle it out in a jam format, trick after trick, jumping, sliding or riding on top of the resort’s custom-built rails and jibs - competing for prizes.
Registration is from 9-10 a.m., practice from 10-11 a.m., riders meet at 11 a.m. and the event starts at 11:30 a.m.
The annual Pond Skim is at Vista Hill Outside the Summit Lodge.
Everyone who zooms down Vista Trail and skims across the resort’s 100-foot pond on skis or snowboards receives a complimentary T-shirt while supplies last.
Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m., and the Pond Skim begins at noon.
The Pond Skim is free and participants can be 10 or older.
