Federal inmate sentenced for possession of a weapon

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Deondray Luron Crayton, 36, a federal inmate incarcerated at FCI Schuylkill, was sentenced to 30 months of’ imprisonment by U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion for his of possession of contraband in prison.

According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Crayton was in possession of a shank in June of 2023 that he used to attack another inmate while incarcerated for an escape from a federal prison. Just moments after the attack, Crayton was detained by prison officials and the weapon was found in the vicinity of the incident.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Special Investigative Services of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Luisa Honora Berti and Phillip Caraballo prosecuted the case.
