High waters

ABOVE: The Lehigh River running high near the Nesquehoning Bridge in the Lehigh Gorge State Park, Jim Thorpe. On Wednesday, the river was at 8 feet in Lehighton, and was down to 7.56 feet at 5:30 this morning. It usually measures 4 feet at the U.S. Geological Society gauge in Lehighton. RIGHT: The Lehigh River levels are high after this week's storm, looking south towards East Jim Thorpe from the Lehigh Gorge State Park, Jim Thorpe. More rain is on the way tonight. Forecasts are calling for rain, possibly mixed with snow, then changing over to rain through 7 a.m. Saturday. Several instances of flooding are possible, especially in urban and poor-drainage areas and near vulnerable small creeks and streams.
