Shea’s donates apparel to N. Lehigh

A longtime Palmerton sporting goods store that recently went out of business has donated some of its apparel to Northern Lehigh School District.

Superintendent Matthew J. Link announced at Monday’s school board meeting that Shea’s Hardware “decided to go out with a very generous donation to the school district.”

“They have donated a large amount of Northern Lehigh branded-apparel to our athletic department,” Link said. “As they closed their business, they wanted to ensure that the extra apparel would go to good use, and it certainly will.”

Link noted that athletic director Bryan Geist has already started to distribute the apparel to some members of the school district.

After nearly 70 years in operation, Shea’s Hardware shuttered its doors on Oct. 14.

Book fair donation

Link also had another “story of generosity” to share with the board on Monday.

“A parent who wishes to remain anonymous took it upon himself to ensure every student at Peters Elementary School was able to purchase a book from the recent Book Fair,” he said. “So any student who may not have been able to purchase a book otherwise was allowed to select a book of their choice.

“On behalf of each of those students, we thank you for your generosity and support of early literacy for our students at Peters Elementary School.”
