Claire Remington will continue as president of the Coaldale Borough Council this year.
Remington’s reappointment was unanimous during Tuesday’s reorganization meeting. Councilman Francis Hutta’s nomination was seconded by Councilman Wayne Figner and with no other nominations, it passed unanimously.
Councilwoman Angela Krapf was absent.
Council also reelected Yvonne Stoffey as council vice president.
Before the elections, Mayor Eric Ramirez issued the oath of office to Remington, Stoffey, Figner and Kim Gavornik. Gavornik was elected to council during November’s general election.
Tax Collector Susan Solt also took the oath of office.
Council appointed Catherine Papesh as borough treasurer, and tabled the appointment of a new secretary. Council received two applications for the position but did not yet interview either applicant.
Also during the meeting, council reappointed Attorney Robert Yurchak as solicitor with a retainer of $260 per month and an hourly rate of $110 for any other work. Cindy Yurchak was retained as zoning solicitor.
Other appointments included Peter Radocha, Sewer Authority, Ann Girard, Zoning Hearing Board alternate, and Steve Polischak, borough fire chief.
Council received several applications for the Lansford Coaldale Water Authority but tabled the appointment until interviews are complete.
Members also tabled Planning Commission, Junior Council, auditors and health inspector appointments.
Committees will be appointed during Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting.
Council will keep its regular meeting time at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.
