A Tamaqua-based film studio used the borough as a backdrop for one of its upcoming movies.
Scenes for “Dream Devil” were shot at borough playgrounds, downtown areas and businesses over the summer.
The independent film stars New York-based actor Nick Turturro, known for his work in “Blue Bloods” and “NYPD Blue.” Also featured are Nestor Serrano, who was featured in “The Negotiator” and appeared as Emilio Loera in the fourth season of the Cinemax series “Banshee,” and Lillo Brancato, known for work in “A Bronx Tale” and for his portrayal of Matthew Bevilaqua, a young mobster on “The Sopranos.”
Local actors were also on the set.
The movie tells the fantasy tale of a middle-aged man, played by Turturro, who lost everything due to a string of bad luck and bad decisions. His dead-end life is turned upside down when he finds a strange medallion and discovers all that glitters isn’t gold.
The film studio was founded by Robert Morgalo, a Berks County writer, actor, director and producer.
The goal is to build a state-of-the-art production facility in Tamaqua.
Outhouse Production Films also hosted a meet-and-greet at its Tamaqua office in May, and frequently hosts acting and production workshops.
