Walker passes budget with no tax increase

The Walker Township supervisors passed the 2024 budget Thursday night with no tax increase.

The total 2024 budgeted revenue is $640,993. Total 2024 budgeted appropriations: $708,385. The shortage amount of $52,686 will be transferred as cash from 2023.

Supervisor Craig Wagner was present at the meeting, and Supervisor Kent Heisler attended via phone. Supervisor Matthew Koch was not present.

The supervisors also voted to pass a resolution to keep the tax rate the same at 5.29 mills plus 1 mill for the New England Fire Company, for a total of 6.29 mills.

Robert Gerber was hired as a part-time CDL equipment operator at a rate of $21.84 per hour.

Several items from the agenda were tabled until the Jan. 2 reorganizational meeting: paying the township bills, purchase of a pressure washing machine, and setting the park rental fee for 2024.

The supervisors will hold the 2024 reorganizational meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building.
