Randall Walters, 44, of Coaldale, was charged with burglary, resisting arrest and other offenses following a Dec. 15 incident at Ridge Terrace in the borough, Coaldale police said.
According to police, officers received a report of a man breaking into a Ridge Terrace apartment at 4 p.m. Police arrived and saw Walters standing in front of the apartment’s window. The window was open and a screen was on the ground, police said.
Officers ordered Walters to place his hands against the building but he refused and tried to run away. Police said an officer grabbed Walters and again told him to stop but he pulled away.
Officers eventually put Walters on the ground where he grabbed one’s leg and refused to let go. Police used a stun gun and pepper spray as he continued to resist arrest.
After several minutes, police handcuffed Walters and took him into custody.
Police said a man told them that Walters tore the screen from his window, pushed his upper body inside and shouted that he was going to beat him.
Police said officers from Summit Hill, Tamaqua and state police assisted.
Police charged Walters with burglary, criminal trespass, stalking, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment. He is free on $25,000 unsecured bail.
