Wittig remains president of Tamaqua school board

Tamaqua Area School Board reorganized Tuesday night with few changes.

Board members Trina Schellhammer, Thomas Bartasavage, Melanie Dillman and Daniel Schoener, who retained their seats in the General Election, took the oath of office.

Long-time board President Larry Wittig retained the position, leading the board with Nicholas Boyle remaining as vice president.

Meetings also remain the same, with the committee meetings at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month, and regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month.

The exception to the meeting schedule is in the June, July and August when the committee and regular meetings will be held the same night - the third Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m.

All of the meetings are held in the middle school’s large group instruction room.

The committees also remain mostly unchanged. Schellhammer will move off the hearing committee and Bartasavage will move on.

Wittig will be the representative to the Intermediate Unit No. 29, and Schellhammer will be the representative to Schuylkill Technology Center.

The committees and members are: auxiliary, Mark Rother, Schellhammer; education, Dillman, Nancy Jones, Bryan Miller; finance, Schoener, Wittig and Boyle; health and welfare, Schellhammer and Dillman as alternate; hearing, Boyle, Miller, Jones, Wittig as alternate.

Also, uniform, Schoener, Wittig and Bartasavage; security, Boyle, Bartasavage and Wittig; legislative awareness and PSBA representative, Wittig; EIT representative, Connie Ligenza, business administrator/board secretary; ESRC representative, Bartasavage, and Tamaqua Library representative, Dillman.
