Dry hydrant work progresses in Kidder Township

Lake Harmony Volunteer Fire Company chief Ralph Lennon told Kidder Township supervisors at the Nov. 28 meeting Nov. 28 that the paperwork is done for a dry hydrant at the end of Wood Street at Lake Harmony.

Work is expected to be done this month.

The dry hydrant at Jack Frost National’s pond was installed in November.

Lennon also asked for donations of toys for the fire company’s toy drive for the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia. Toys can be dropped off at the municipal building or on Saturdays at the fire house.

In other business, supervisors approved the Wisser conditional three-lot subdivision in Albrightsville, and tabled both Split Rock Country Club subdivisions - a three-lot and a one-lot - until the December meeting.

Split Rock Country Club owner Shelly Lutz raised a concern about another set of family properties, those along Route 940 that would be affected by the widening of the state road, taking some of their property.

The Split Rock Resort has appealed the tax valuation of its property and buildings, looking to reduce their taxes. Supervisors agreed to pay a fair share of the cost of an independent appraisal of the property.

Roadmaster/supervisor Noel Torres reported that tree work is complete on Kresge and Meckes lanes and is moving into Lake Harmony.

Patrolman Allen Strohl has completed his probation and supervisors hired him unanimously.

Citizen Mary Farnschlader said she called Kidder police regarding an issue, and praised the responses and work of the three officers that dealt with.

The budget workshop on Nov. 8 produced a budget for 2024, which will be advertised and available at the township office.

Manager Suzanne Brooks reminded the public that December’s meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 22.
