Woman has reaction to substance in package

Police and emergency personnel were summoned to Penn Forest Township on Tuesday afternoon after a woman opened a package and was exposed to a white substance that apparently resulted in her having an adverse reaction.

Police determined no hazard existed.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said they were summoned at 3:29 p.m. to Mansi Drive in the township and with the assistance of agency partners stabilized the situation and cared for the woman after it was reported she was having as reaction to the substance.

Assisting at the scene were Cpl. David Darrough of the state police Clandestine Lab Response Team, Cpl. Richard Mrak, troopers Gary Fedorczyk and Samantha Doherty and personnel from the Penn Forest Fire Company No. 1, Penn Forest Fire Company No. 2 and the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency.
