A Luzerne County man has been charged with leading police on a high-speed chase.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. Michael C. Bogart of the Weatherly Police Department in the case against Matthew Graham:
At 11:52 a.m. Nov. 16, Bogart saw Graham, 42, getting into his black 2017 Kia Optima.
Bogart had an encounter earlier that day when Graham was found to be under the influence of controlled substances.
Graham backed out of the driveway in the Sedan and accelerated at a high rate of speed on East Main Street.
Bogart reached 98 mph in his pursuit of Graham.
Graham pulled into the 3000 block of South Lehigh Drive and Graham continued off the driveway, around the house and onto another property.
Graham then went back onto South Lehigh Gorge Drive and headed east as Bogart reached speeds of 80 mph in pursuit.
Graham turned into a driveway on South Stagecoach Road, jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
He was found several hours later and taken into custody.
Graham faces charges on three counts of trespass by motor vehicle; two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude officer; and one count each of driving under the influence of controlled substance, careless driving, reckless driving, driving at safe speed; and maximum speed limits.
Graham is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Dec. 6 before District judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
