Sewer Authority may dissolve

Lehighton’s Sewer Authority remains intact, at least for now.

At last week’s borough council meeting, dissolving the Authority was discussed.

Borough Manager Dane DeWire said that as of this month, it is believed that a PennVest loan is paid in full.

It was said the Sewer Authority would have to be dissolved through an ordinance.

DeWire said that multiple officials mentioned that they were in agreement that the quorum that met felt that it was not necessary to schedule monthly meetings.

“We are looking for a copy of the documents that set up the Authority itself,” Gregory Mousseau, the Authority’s solicitor, said. “(They) will do a little bit of research before they make a decision.”

Based on that, Mousseau said the Authority has taken the matter under advisement.

“They haven’t made a decision,” he said.
