Mahoning Township residents probably won’t see an increase in their municipal tax rates in 2024.
On a 4-0 vote, the township’s board of supervisors on Wednesday agreed to advertise next year’s proposed spending plan to the public.
The board advertised next year’s budget with no tax increase, which would leave the millage rate at 7.75 mills. Supervisor Ronald Reeser was absent.
In December 2022, the board adopted this year’s budget with a 1-mill increase, which raised the millage rate from 6.75 to 7.75 mills.
Township secretary Natalie Haggerty said at that time the hiring of a new full-time road department worker, coupled with moving a part-time clerk to full-time clerk were contributing factors that resulted in the increase.
