No contested races in Nesquehoning

There were no contests in the balloting for Nesquehoning Borough Council seats in the general election on Tuesday.

The voters were scheduled to fill four four-year terms on the board, and there were only three candidates for the positions.

Paul Kattner, who won both Democrat and Republican tickets in the primary, was the top vote-getter with 561 votes.

Incumbents Lois Corby Kuba, a Republican, received 553 votes; while Bruce Nalesnik, a Democrat, received 423 token votes.

There was also 92 write-in votes cast, which could name a fourth council person. The results of write-ins have not yet been announced as the county election office will be calculating those results this week.

In addition, Kattner also won the two-year council term with 584 votes.
