Fire crews were called to a report of a fire at Houser Newman Associates’ 37 Medical Crossing Rd. site Friday evening.

No fire was found but a malfunctioning belt on an HVAC unit was to blame for smoky conditions inside the Mahoning Valley business.

The eye care facility posted a thank you to the West Penn Fire Company and other responders the following day, saying that it was “very fortunate that it was not worse.”
