Man charged with selling fentanyl

A Tamaqua man is in prison after he sold fentanyl to an agent from the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General.

David Hartranft, 39, was arrested at 4 p.m. Sept. 26 by Tamaqua police and the Attorney General’s Drug Task Force.

According to borough police, Hartranft sold a gram of fentanyl to the agent. When he was taken into custody, police found seven wax paper bags with a substance that tested positive for fentanyl, police said.

The agencies charged him with felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge A.J. Serina, who set bail at $75,000 straight. Hartranft was unable to post bail and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison.
