DA: video not circulating in Carbon schools

A Carbon County school was not among the Lehigh Valley schools that an offensive video containing child pornography has been circulating.

District Attorney Jim Martin corrected information Thursday in the ongoing investigation into an offensive video containing child pornography.

“We apologize for the error and any concerns arising from it,” a news release from Martin stated.

The investigation continues by Pennsylvania State Police.

The video, which contains child pornography, has circulated among students at Northern Lehigh and Parkland schools, Martin said. “At this point, we believe the video emanated from the Altoona area and does not depict any local children.”

Northern Lehigh School District Superintendent Dr. Matthew J. Link said, “The district is aware of the illegal activity which was sent to a few of our students via cellphone communication. This is a law enforcement matter, and our school district police department and administration are cooperating with the investigation.”

He encouraged parents to talk with their children about what they post or text using their cellphones or other devices.
