The Schuylkill County Fair celebrates “Military Day” today.

Gates open at 4 p.m., and to thank veterans for their service, active duty and veterans with identification will receive a discounted admission fee.

Goodtime Amusements’ rides will open at 4 p.m., and a tractor parade takes off from the main gate at 4:30 p.m. At 5 p.m., there will be presentation of colors by the Veterans of Vietnam War.

A Celebrity Tractor Pull gets underway at 5:30 p.m. from the Agriculture Museum track, and at 6 p.m. Dave “Big Owl” McSurdy will present “Indians of PA.”

The Livestock Skill-A-Thon will be held at 6 p.m. from the arena, and a Farm Stock Pull is at 6:30 p.m. from the track.

At 7 and 9 p.m., The Uptown Band takes the main stage for performances. A boilo contest is at 7:30 p.m. from the PA Preferred building.

Thursday is “Senior Appreciation Day” and the fair opens at 11 a.m. Rides open and livestock buyers check-in at 4 p.m. A tractor parade will be held at 4:30 p.m. and the livestock auction and awards begin at 5 p.m. Cornhole registration is at 5 p.m. and the tournament follows at 6 p.m. A program on insects is at 6 p.m., and Shawn Klush “Ultimate Elvis” performs at 7 and 9 p.m.

The fair is located at 2270 Fair Road, Schuylkill Haven.
