Palmerton Council plans to regulate pool halls within the borough with a new ordinance. The move was prompted by numerous complaints from residents concerning a current pool hall.

The proposed ordinance will allow police to investigate the backgrounds of owners and operators of billiard rooms, with the authority to refuse a license to anyone who has pleaded guilty to or been convicted of a crime.It will also require owners/operators of a pool hall to be of good moral character and a fit and proper person to hold such a license.
