Two Luzerne County men have been charged in connection with retail theft incidents in Mahoning Township.
On April 24, at 10:09 p.m. township police responded to Walmart for a retail theft in progress. Loss Prevention reported two males had stolen a 40 inch television valued at $421.88. They fled before police arrived.A description of the vehicle a yellow Ford Mustang including the registration was disseminated to local agencies. The vehicle was located by Jim Thorpe police at the Turkey Hill on Route 209 with the TV on the backseat of the car.The vehicle driver Stanley Carter, 27, and passenger George Kraynak, 23, both of Hazleton were detained. During interviews both admitted they had stolen items to fuel an addiction to heroin.Police said the investigation resulted in the closure of five open retail theft investigations involving $3,578 of stolen electronic merchandise.
