The case against Anthony Heath:
1. State trooper Raymond Judge told jurors Heath confessed to strangling Steigerwalt with a speaker cord after he believed she was breaking a promise to take him to a child custody hearing.2. In a taped interview, Heath says he "blacked out" late Jan. 31 after a sexual encounter with Steigerwalt and woke to find her dead. He said he disposed of her body after he panicked.3. A cellphone text message sent from Steigerwalt's phone to Heath's at 1:38 a.m. Feb. 2, saying she would be unable to see him.4. A Walmart receipt found on Steigerwalt's charred remains, for a plastic tote, lighter, and lighter fluid, all found near her body.5. Surveillance from Walmart showing Heath shopping for the tote, lighter and lighter fluid at 5:14 a.m. Feb. 1.6. Heath said Steigerwalt gave him permission to drive her car to North Carolina. He said he spoke with her on Feb. 1 and 2. Her body was found Feb. 1.
