Spirit of Christmas
The Tamaqua Community Art Center will be a busy place during Tamaqua's Upcoming Spirit of Christmas Festival. The festival will be held the weekend of Dec. 4, 5 and 6.Activities will include a meet and greet with Santa on Dec. 4; performances of "The Rented Christmas" by members of the Tamaqua Area Community Theatre on Dec. 4 and 5; and an artist open house and vendor fair on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6.For more information on any of the planned events, call 570-668-1192.Calvary UMThe Rev. Ed Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the 39th Annual Harvest and Thanksgiving service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments, fun and fellowship are planned for after the service.St. John LutheranThe Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at this Christ the King Sunday's 9:15 a.m. worship service in St. John's Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion.Also on Sunday, Sunday school and Confirmation classes meet at 10:30 a.m. and the bell choir will rehearse at noon.Zion LewistownPastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 5 to 8 p.m., on Monday and Tuesday for candy making.Cheer adviserThe Tamaqua Area School District is looking for an assistant cheerleading adviser. The coaching position is for the winter 2015-16 season.
