Man waives hearing in 2013 death of infant daughter

ALLENTOWN (AP) - An eastern Pennsylvania man has waived his right to a preliminary hearing in the 2013 death of his 2-month-old daughter.

Thirty-one-year-old Matthew Wolfe of Whitehall Township is charged in Lehigh County in the November 2013 death. The third-degree murder and child endangerment charges now go to county court for trial.Police said he told them that he awoke to find the girl limp and whimpering, but medical staff concluded that she died from injuries including hemorrhages, skull fractures and broken legs and ribs.Authorities said Wolfe is being held without bail "due to the nature and severity of the charges," but his attorney said Wednesday that he will seek bail.Defense attorney Scott Wilhelm said the charges came as a surprise to his client, who he said is innocent.
