Next Christmas, there will be even more trees in the Palmerton Borough Park.

Joe Federanich told members of the Palmerton Chamber of Commerce at the number of Christmas trees in the park will increase from 77 in 2015 to 125 in 2016."For those of you waiting (for a tree)," said Federanich, a member of the Christmas in the Park committee. "We'll take care of you next year."He said the borough switched over to LED lights in the light poles, so there will be more electricity available to light the Christmas trees. There was a waiting list for trees in 2015, and the list is already long for next December. The Christmas in the Park Committee was taking names and numbers at the lighting event of interested parties for 2016.Federanich also made a plug for the upcoming Art Show and Lunch at the Palmerton Area Library. In addition to works of art, he listed all of the food that will be available including homemade soup, desserts, salads, drinks and more.The Art Show and Lunch will run from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Ticketsare available at the library.According to art show requirements, artists can display up to three pieces of artwork. Pieces must be framed and ready to hang with a wire on the back. Information labels, that will be provided, should be placed on the back of the art work. The paintings should be delivered to the library no later than noon today. There is no entry fee for the artwork.The artwork may be sold, but artists need to set their own prices at the time of registration. If the work sells, then the artist will receive 80 percent of the sale and the library 20 percent. Any work that does not sell will remain on display for two weeks. Artists may pick up their work the day after the show after 2:30 p.m., but should tell the library of their plans.The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Palmerton Area Library.
