An Effort man entered a guilty plea to false identification to law enforcement on Tuesday in Carbon County. The plea and resulting sentence is the least of his problems with the law.

Shawn Dale Berger, 36, entered the plea before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II. He was arrested following an incident at the Rite Aid store Palmerton on March 5, 2015.Borough police responded to the store to a report of a person stealing syringes from the store. Berger was found outside in a vehicle with the stolen items.Berger is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison on a parole violation awaiting resentencing. He was recently resentenced to one year probation in Northampton County on another charge.Nanovic placed him on probation for a year, consecutive to the Northampton term, and ordered he pay a fine of $500, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 monthly supervision fee while on probation.
