WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (AP) - The U.S. Navy says it's taking aggressive actions after several congressmen raised concerns about the safety of drinking water near two former bases in suburban Philadelphia.

The lawmakers had said firefighting foams used at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove and the Naval Air Warfare Center in Warminster could be the source of cancer-causing chemicals found in nearly 100 public and private wells near the properties. The wells were found to have elevated levels of the chemicals PFOA and PFOS.The Bucks County Courier Times reports (http://bit.ly/1UJRQtC ) the Navy responded Tuesday, saying it's trying to locate potential release sites and "eliminate unacceptable exposures."The Navy says it's cleaning areas where it's responsible for the contamination.The offices of the three congressmen haven't responded to requests for comment.---Information from: Bucks County Courier Times,
