QUARRYVILLE, Pa. (AP) - The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture says more than 40 ducks found along a rural road last week were placed there after they were already killed.

Agriculture spokeswoman Brandi-Hunter Davenport tells LNP (http://bit.ly/1XPvDs2 ) that tests on the birds found in East Drumore Township determined they didn't die of disease.The birds were left along a road in southern Lancaster County about 50 miles southeast of Harrisburg on March 16. The birds died of some kind of trauma and were likely dropped from a vehicle that drove along the road.The ducks were found along more than a one-mile stretch.Hunter-Davenport says the birds "were not hit by cars. It was not just happenstance."The state police are continuing to investigate who killed and dumped the ducks along the road.
