WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - State environmental officials say a mine subsidence is likely to blame for a crater that opened up in a Wilkes-Barre yard that a women fell into.

The Citizens' Voice reports (http://bit.ly/28Rtpeo ) that Rhonda Martini was landscaping the backyard of her Bowman Street home on Sunday when a hole between approximately 6 feet and 8 feet deep and 8 feet in diameter opened at her feet.Officials say Martini wasn't seriously injured.A spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Protection said Wednesday that the crater is likely a mine subsidence given the history of the area.The DEP Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation has issued an emergency declaration to begin work on the hole.
