Weatherly Borough Council has appointed a new tax collector after a longtime official stepped down from the position.

Council members accepted Sandra Eroh's resignation Monday night.They also voted to appoint Deborah Kohler to serve out the term.Eroh cited personal reasons. She was appointed to the tax collector position in 2006. She won re-election in 2007, 2009 and 2013. Her current term expires in 2017.Contacted on Tuesday, Eroh, 73, said that she decided to resign because of her age and a new computer system being implemented for local tax collectors.She gave endorsement for the woman who was chosen as her replacement. Kohler previously served as her assistant.
