Members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehousemen and Helpers of America at three Interstate Dress Carrier Inc., plants in Pennsylvania, including one in the Mahoning Valley, went on strike today.
Company officials called the shutdown "an illegal wildcat strike which does not have union sanction."James Farrell, manager at the Lehighton plant, said telegrams have been dispatched to all the striking personnel, informing them the strike is "illegal" and, unless they return to work, they will be without further employment there. The Mahoning Valley facility employs an estimated 100 drivers, having approximately 90 trucks on the highways.
