The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company held its annual block party Friday and Saturday on the fire company grounds to raise much-needed funds.
The weekend event featured a variety of vendors, games, delicious foods, and entertainment. Mystery City was on stage Saturday evening.
The block party was a big hit with families from all over. Adam Reich, from Lehighton, accompanied by 6-year-old Liam McCaffrey and 7-year-old Aliyah Reich, were enjoying French fries and other food from Dale’s Concessions.
“I like the food and the dime toss,” Aliyah said.
Liam apparently was enjoying the big cup of French fries he was munching on.
The kitchen was serving up barbecues, filling, steak sandwiches, plus hamburgers and cheeseburgers on the grill outside the kitchen. Other vendors had kettle corn, funnel cakes, French fries, pierogies, drinks, and more.
There were games such as the dime toss, a game where you hit a target with a hammer to try to ring a bell, a basket auction and other raffles.
“Thanks to all of our volunteers, everyone who entertained, donated prizes or attended the event,” Franklin Fire Company posted on its Facebook page.
“Friday’s heat and Saturday’s threat of rain didn’t stop our loyal supporters. Your support helps us raise much needed funds to pay our running expenses, provide fire protection, educate our firefighters and the general public as well as it helps to provide a savings toward new and much needed equipment.”
