A Tamaqua police officer is facing several traffic citations following a May 9 incident in Mahoning Township, according to court documents.

Christopher Cordes, 28, of Nazareth, was charged with careless driving, required financial responsibility, and operation following suspension of registration.

Mahoning Township Police Officer Tyler Meek also cited Cordes for classes of licenses, and surrender of registration plants and cards upon suspension or revocation.

All are summary offenses.

Tamaqua Police Chief Michael Hobbs said the department is aware of the charges.

Cordes is scheduled for a summary trial July 10 before Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, Lansford.
