Marian High School replacing roof over gymnasium, annex

The board of directors of Marian Catholic High School recently approved the replacement of the roof over the John P. Malarkey ’51 Gymnasium and Annex, at a cost of more than $200,000.

“Each year, our enrollment continues to grow,” board Chair Patrick Reilly said. “With this comes a need to plan for the future, and we feel that replacing the roof over the gymnasium and annex is a top priority of our capital projects.”

The project will be funded by a low interest loan from the Diocese of Allentown Catholic Beneficial Association.

“The improvements made to the John P. ‘Jack’ Malarkey gymnasium over the past few years, including new bleachers, a new stage, stage lighting, and LED lighting for the entire gym, need to be protected, and this project will do so,” said Michael Brennan, the head of the school. “The gym is the heart of our school, used for weekly mass, sporting events, and performing arts, and we are thrilled to continue to improve our facilities.”

The work will be done this summer.
